In 2012, Divya Spandana aka Ramya joined Indian Youth Congress in 2012. She became the Member of Parliament from Mandya constituency in Karnataka in 2013. She again contested from Mandya General Elections in 2014 but was defeated by C.S. Puttaraju by only 5500 votes.
In 2017, Divya Spandana was made the head of Indian National Congress Digital Team Wing. She took over the social media team from Deepender Singh Hooda. She has also created online campaign #AintNoCindrella.
Later in October 2018, she stepped back from the job of the Head of Social Media for Congress.
